Next, since Lucas is on Trek this week, we weren't able to celebrate our anniversary on the actual day (don't feel bad for us, we're spending a week in San Francisco next week!). Luckily, I have the greatest husband ever ... he had a lovely surprise waiting for me on my desk at work that morning...

He knows how much I love my Diet Coke and Good & Plenty ... He's the best.

So I'm teaching Relief Society this week, and it's Teaching for Our Time. The article is from the most recent conference: Coming to Ourselves: The Sacrament, the Temple, and Sacrifice in Service. It's such a great talk from Elder Robert D Hales encouraging us to become spiritually self-reliant as we live our covenants. You should read it.

Last, my friend Jesse has this awesome blog where she puts her incredible work - Scatter Sunshine Printables. She's seriously so talented. Anyway, she added one recently with a summer B of M reading chart - I'm totally going to do it. Check it out.

PS Jesse - I wish you and I were better friends, I think you're really neat.

FHE

Lucas is on Trek this week, so Brok and I did our own thing for Family Home Evening. Of course it was a hike, it was Brok's idea. Hiking is my very favorite thing, especially this trail - I know I've talked about it before, but it's my very favorite. It's lovely all the time, any season, never super crowded, and 10 minutes from my house. I can leave my house, hike/run 2.5-3 miles and be home in an hour. It's glorious. And Brok LOVES it.

Here are some pictures from last night:

Maybe I need a new hobby ... any suggestions?

my summer reading list

I love to read. Sometimes I feel like I'm too busy to read books, even though I know that's crazy. Here are some that I'm putting on my list for this summer:

Expecting Adam - Martha Beck (started, loving it)

To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee (maybe my all-time favorite book)

East of Eden - John Steinbeck (another re-read. love it)

Rob Roy - Sir Walter Scott (I want to read more old books)

Farm Anatomy - Julie Rothman

How Could You Do That?! - Dr Laura (love her)

A Year Down Yonder - Richard Peck (I've been wanting to read this forever)

A Place of My Own: The Education of an Amateur Builder - Michael Pollan

and

A Place of My Own: The Architecture of Daydreams - Michael Pollan

The Story of Lucy Gault – William Trevor (1920's Ireland)

Crash - JG Ballard (maybe)

Persuasion - Jane Austen

What am I missing? Any must-read recommendations?

Color Me Rad recap

Last week we ran a 5K - Color Me Rad. It was mostly awesome except that I nearly choked to death on the color powder and also had a chunk of it in my eye for the better part of the day. Regardless, we had a blast and would run it again in a heartbeat.

Coming up: Guns & Hoses, Top of Zion??, and the Bryce Canyon Rim Run -- what other races should we sign up for?

from the internet

Here are some links and other things I found on the internet while bored at work:

I'm completely obsessed with this scent. Like, I use it almost every day. I want to make it my signature.

A lovely PDF list of 10 must-take pictures for each month - print it!

Here is a wonderful talk from Richard G Scott about obtaining revelation and inspiration for your personal life.

Check out Print Wolf - they have some awesome prints, and they're one of the Hen Movie Club's sponsors!

I want everything, especially the scarf.

Remember picnik? Sad it's gone? Try this. I love it.

I want this to be my house.

These maps are super cool.

Bought these at Target yesterday. Love them.

And some blogs that I love to read: The Polished Pickle, Ashley & Dizzle, and coleman in love. Enjoy!
